Jack’s House – A new Homes from Home Centre in Manchester

Works are now well underway transforming an old property, formerly used as offices, into much-needed free accommodation for families.

The Homes from Home is a project funded by Morrison’s and is located close to the leading cancer treatment centre, The Christie, Didsbury, in South Manchester.

The facility will provide a free place for families to stay when their child is going through cancer treatment. This is one of a few across the country that are close to principal treatment centres, assisting families with the extra financial burdens of travel, accommodation, and food costs. This unit will have nine bedrooms, with laundry and kitchen facilities.

Connections2energy are delighted to be involved and will be arranging for the upgrade of the water and electrical supply as part of the repurposing project.

A new sports hall and teaching block is to be built at the University of Wolverhampton’s expanding Springfield Brewery Campus.

After acquiring the derelict 11.3-acre listed site in 2014, the University first began construction work on the current UTC, which opened its doors in 2016.

The planned extension, which also includes proposals for an outdoor all-weather sports pitch and parking area, will form part of the existing Thomas Telford University Technical College (TT UTC) at the complex in Cambridge Street.

Connections2energy will be working with the developer to arrange temporary feeds, and also for the existing utility infrastructure to be diverted to allow construction works to begin for this next phase of the project.
