We provide quotations for any aspects of gas works, we work alongside home owners and developers to deliver their bespoke needs and requirements. We have a wealth of experience in delivering new mains and service connections for large housing developments and Industrial and commercial projects. We also deliver service alterations where end users wish to move the location of their meter if they are planning on extending or renovating their property, and their gas meter is situated in a position that will hinder the works. We can also provide GIRs approved designs on all of the projects we work so our clients can have full confidence in our approach and delivery getting gas to their developments.
Process – From the point of enquiry you will have a dedicated Account Manager who will identify your requirements for you development in relation to gas, water and electric. We would require site plans showing the termination points of the gas and electricity meters, from this we would then send the enquiry over to be drawn up and priced with the relevant designers, we would also arrange any site visits required to eliminate the need for any variations further along the process. Once we have your quotation this will be sent over to you with a full acceptance page. Once payment and acceptance has been received we will then get your work planned in, there will then be a site meeting for each gas water and electric to run through all on site requirements when it comes to customer responsibilities to avoid any confusion when it comes to getting you connected. Once everything has been discussed on site and everyone knows their responsibilities you will then be issued with a work start date, we will always work around what is best for site, we aim to have site connected between 4-12 weeks after the work has been accepted, provided there is no major traffic management or reinforcements required. Once the utility connections have been complete we will then arrange for the gas and electric meters to be installed should the customer request these we always aim to get these fitted as close to the connections being complete as possible so the new gas and electricity service can be used for any testing and commissioning of the internal fittings and fixtures.
Gas Connection FAQs
When can you carry the work out?
We aim to get your utilities connected within 4-12 weeks from acceptance (standard connections)
How much will my connections cost?
This can vary depending of the point of connection ( where we connect your service required to the main) and the scope of work required your account manager can give you an idea when the receive your enquiry and identify what is required.
What areas do you cover?
We cover nationwide.
Will you do one off connections?
Yes, we will provide quotations for service alterations of gas and electric, one off connections.
What meter will I need for a domestic house?
For standard domestic properties with gas central heating, you would require a U6 meter meter which gives you up to 64 kwh.
What is the lead time to get my gas connection done?
We aim to deliver your new gas connection in 6-8weeks after payment and acceptance, we do ask customers to bear in mind council approval of the relevant permits required to make your connection, this can sometimes vary depending on which council we have to work with.
I have been told my Gas connection is non-standard what does this mean?
Non-standard work has many different criteria, it could be that there is more 40 metres of service pipe in private land or you are more than 23 metres away from your nearest Mains or that your gas meter is located above the ground floor, which would mean you require a bespoke steel riser that goes to required floor of the property. Your dedicated account manager will be able to offer you more guidance.
How will I know if my unmetered gas service is live?
You will require a live or dead check, this will identify the status of your service pipe and will give us an indication as to whether you require a new meter or complete new gas service.
Can I upgrade my gas meter?
Yes, however we would need to ensure that your service pipe has the capacity to support the increase in meter size. We will carry out a GT1 check and if the capacity is available we will simply exchange the existing meter with the new required one.
