Christmas Embargoes / Roadworks Suspension Explained

Christmas Roadworks Embargo

A roadworks embargo is the suspension of all non-essential roadworks in an area. During the Christmas period, councils arrange these embargoes in order to keep the roads running smoothly.

The temporary halt or limitation of roadworks aims to alleviate traffic congestion and make travel more convenient for the public during a time when many people are on the roads for holiday-related activities. Putting these suspensions in place means that nearly 98 per cent of motorways and major A roads will be roadworks-free.

While the majority of routes are unaffected, some work may continue on minor roads with lighter traffic, and exceptions may be made for emergency work on major routes.

The specific dates for work restrictions vary among local authorities, typically spanning from early December to the second week of January.

How will this affect my connections?

Whilst we endeavour to have your connection in place and ready to use as soon as possible, over the festive period whilst these restrictions are in place, your connection date may be delayed.

We recommend that clients who are prepared for their connection promptly accept their quotes. This ensures that their work can be scheduled either before the start of embargo restrictions or immediately after their conclusion.
