Going directly to the incumbent water company, United Utilities, Severn Trent, Thames Water and so on, means accepting their standard quotation at their standard rate. There is no negotiation and no competition.
To ensure fair competition in the water market, water authorities allow developers to use Self-Lay Providers (SLPs) and New Appointments & Variations (NAVs). SLPs are accredited contractors who can install new water mains and service connections to the same standard as the water company, but at a competitively tendered price. Do your water contractors hold WIRS accreditation?
Every water contractor we appoint holds current WIRS accreditation, required by all UK water authorities for mains connection and alteration works to be adopted. We verify WIRS status before appointment and audit it throughout our working relationship.
How long does a new water connection take?
Timescales vary depending on the water authority area, the scale of the connection and whether any mains reinforcement is required. We provide a realistic programme at the quotation stage and work to your construction timeline from day one. Early engagement is always recommended.
