Why WIRS accreditation matters
The Water Industry Registration Scheme confirms that contractors working on public water mains and service pipes are assessed, approved and working to the standards required by UK water authorities. Without WIRS accreditation, a contractor’s water works will not be adopted by the water authority. That means your connection or diversion cannot be formally completed, regardless of the physical works being done.
As a utility facilitator, we don’t carry out the physical works ourselves, but every contractor we appoint must hold current WIRS accreditation. Water authorities allow developers to use Self-Lay Providers (SLPs) and New Appointments & Variations (NAVs) rather than going directly to the incumbent water company. We access this open market on your behalf, obtaining competitive quotes that frequently deliver significant cost savings compared to the water company’s standard rate.
Need more than just a water connection?
If your project also needs gas, electric or telecoms, our multi-utility service could save your programme significant time and cost.

CLIENT REVIEWS
What our clients say
★★★★★
“I can’t praise this company and their team of people highly enough. We used them for our mains water connection, and they guided us through the whole process efficiently and professionally, also offering advice and guidance along the way too.”
★★★★★
“I chose C2E to deal with my utility connections during the conversion of my barn. I chose C2E over two other companies as from the first enquiry to completion, Nicola put a lot of effort into ensuring we got the connection carried out to our requirements at the best cost.”

common questions
Water connections, your questions answered
Can you get competitive quotes vs the water company?
Yes, and this is one of the most valuable things we do. Water authorities allow developers to use Self-Lay Providers (SLPs) and New Appointments & Variations (NAVs) rather than going directly to the incumbent water company. We access this open market on your behalf, which regularly delivers significant cost savings compared to the water company's standard rate.
Do your water contractors hold WIRS accreditation?
Every water contractor we appoint holds current WIRS accreditation, required by all UK water authorities for mains connection and alteration works to be adopted. We verify WIRS status before appointment and audit it throughout our working relationship.
How long does a new water connection take?
Timescales vary depending on the water authority area, the scale of the connection and whether any mains reinforcement is required. We provide a realistic programme at the quotation stage and work to your construction timeline from day one. Early engagement is always recommended. The sooner we're involved, the more flexibility we have to protect your programme.
Can you manage water alongside other utility connections?
Yes, and we'd strongly recommend it. Managing water separately carries a 39% delay risk. A multi-utility package reduces that to just 11% (NFB data, one account manager, one programme, one point of contact across all utilities.
