Connections2energy International Womens Day

Connections2energy are celebrating International Women’s Day 2026.

Women are underrepresented in the UK utilities sector, with only 28% of employees identifying as female compared to the national average of 48% (Utility Week). Recent data shows that women held only 29% of board seats in the UK energy sector and just 16% of executive director roles.

Connections2energy is proud to challenge this statistic, with women making up 80% of our workforce and 57% of our management team. We love celebrating International Women’s Day each year because we truly do challenge the usual statistics, demonstrating that gender equality in the utilities sector isn’t just an aspiration, it’s achievable.

We are proud to empower women to grow and thrive, even in a male-dominated industry. We celebrate the achievements, contributions, and growth of our female colleagues with pride.

International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements – from the political to the economic and the social – while calling for gender equality. The day has been celebrated since the early 1900s and is now recognised each year on 8 March. Give To Gain emphasises the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction; it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise. #GiveToGain #IWD202
